Terms of Use

These terms apply when you use the WatchNotes app and this website. By using WatchNotes you agree to them. They supplement Apple's Standard License Agreement for apps from the App Store.

Your account

Some features, such as sync and friends, need an account. Give accurate information, keep your login secure, and tell us if you think someone else has access to your account. You are responsible for what happens in your account.

Your content

Your diary, ratings, notes and profile belong to you. You allow us to store and display this content only to run WatchNotes, for example to sync it and show it to your friends. You also allow us to pass your messages, photos and the diary excerpts you choose to use with the companion or Smart import to AI service providers, solely to produce the result.

Do not put anything illegal, hateful, sexually explicit or infringing in your username, avatar or notes, and do not use WatchNotes to harass other people. Do not send other people's private data or content you have no right to use. We may remove such content and limit or close accounts that break these rules.

Acceptable use

Do not try to break, overload or reverse engineer the service, bypass usage limits, collect other users' data, or use WatchNotes for spam or automated access. Do not abuse the AI companion: no automated use, no attempts to extract its instructions or bypass its limits.

Subscriptions: Plus and PRO

WatchNotes Plus and WatchNotes PRO. WatchNotes is free to download. Plus and PRO are auto-renewing monthly subscriptions. Plus removes ads and adds cloud sync, watch stats, 3 Smart imports a month, alternative app icons and a Plus badge; new subscribers may get a free trial of 3 days. PRO includes everything in Plus and adds the AI companion, unlimited Smart import and a PRO badge. Without a subscription, Smart import is limited to 1 import a month. The price is shown in the app before you buy. Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase. A free trial, when offered, becomes a paid subscription at its end unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. You can upgrade from Plus to PRO at any time. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID settings. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. To restore a purchase on a new device, use Restore purchases on the subscription screen.

AI companion

AI companion. The AI companion is part of WatchNotes PRO. It uses artificial intelligence to suggest films and shows, answer questions and, when you ask, change your diary or set reminders. Its answers are generated automatically and can be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date (for example release dates or where a title is available), and it may occasionally reveal plot details despite its efforts to avoid spoilers. Check anything that matters before you rely on it. The companion is for entertainment and is not professional advice. Changes it makes to your diary can be undone with the Undo button. To keep the service fair there is a daily message limit, which we may change. Do not use the companion to generate harmful or unlawful content, to bypass limits, or for automated access. If you turn memory on, the companion keeps short notes about your preferences in your account; you can view and delete them in Settings. We may limit or suspend access to the companion if it is abused.

Reminders

Reminders are delivered as notifications by iOS at the time you set, if you allowed notifications for WatchNotes. We cannot guarantee delivery (for example when notifications or Focus modes are turned off or the device is off).

Film data and posters

Film and show information and posters come from TMDB and belong to their rights holders. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Rights holders can send requests to [email protected].

Ads

Users without Plus or PRO may see ads provided by Google AdMob. We are not responsible for the content of third-party ads or the websites they lead to.

Smart import

Smart import recognizes titles automatically and can make mistakes. It is limited per month depending on your plan: 1 on the Free plan, 3 with Plus, unlimited with PRO. Check the results before saving them. Upload only content you have the right to use.

Availability and changes

We work to keep WatchNotes running but cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may change, add or remove features. AI companion features, models, providers and limits can change, and the companion may be unavailable at times.

Disclaimer and liability

WatchNotes is provided as is. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect damages or for loss of data. AI-generated answers may be wrong, so use your own judgment. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived.

Ending use

You can stop using WatchNotes and delete your account in the app settings at any time. We may suspend accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these terms, and we may limit or suspend access to the AI companion for abuse.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, we will update the date at the top of the page. If you keep using WatchNotes after a change, the new terms apply.
